Race Results

Below is the public Google Docs spreadsheet of the 2008 race results, select the tabs to switch between race types, or click here for full screen:

Scoring for 2008 (and 2007) is as follows:

  • Points will be based on the # of racers, "plus one", so for example if 6 racers compete, the 1st place finisher gets 7pts (6 'racers' "plus one"), and the points decend from there, with a one point jump from 1st to 2nd, so the 2nd place finisher would get 5pts, 3rd would get 4pts, down to one point for the 6th final finisher. This scoring system is an attempt to award points appropriately - if there are more racers, more points are awarded, less riders means less potential points. Hopefully this results in less point descrepencies between riders.

  • Points will be based in each Category (A, B, C) - riders who wish to move up a category start the new Category with 1/2 the points from their previous Category. (So if you have 50pts in B, and move up to A, you start with 25pts.)

  • The one exception to the Category rule is the 'Stagger Dagger' race, which is 'Open', and points are distributed to all riders, but Category is ignored, so if there are 10 riders, and a C is the winner, s/he gets 11pts in C, the B rider who finished 2nd would get 9pts in B, and so on. This is a closing race for most nights, and a chance for riders to collect extra points!

  • In the Thursday Points file is a 'TOTAL POTENTIAL PTS' field - this indicates how many points a rider could have collected that night in that category, so if the total is 20pts, a rider who won all the races would score 20pts as a 'Perfect Score'.

  • The 'Thursday Results' file shows what races occured each night, and the placing of each rider. GVVA points are listed in the 'Thursday Points' file.

  • New for 2008 is Team Points, and the Top 3 races in each Category (A, B, C) has their points count towards their team each Thursday night.

Below are the 2006 GVVA Weekly Race Series times and points.

    How Points Are Distributed

Scoring - points given 10 deep, for each category (A, B, C and Woman) as follows: 10, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1, 1 (Note: if racing in a cat lower than normal, less points will be awarded.)

Sprints - all do a 200m, and are paired up according to times (fastest vs next fastest), and a formula is used to calculate points, depending on if the opponent is an A, B or C. Winning vs Own Category receives 4pts, winning vs lower category recevies less points, and winning vs higher cat receives more points. 1pt give regardless of outcome. (ie, if a C beats an A, s/he gets 6 pts, but if the A beat a C, s/he gets 2pts.)

Pursuits / Kilo / 500m - racers can ride either the Kilo/500m, Pursuit or both, but only highest result will be scored, tho the ranking in the unscored area will affect other riders. (ie, if you get 2nd in a Pursuit, and 3rd in the Kilo, you'll get points for the Pursuit, and 'block' the 3rd place points in the Kilo.)

    Our schedule is as follows:
